Dafne Ramirez is currently enjoying her internship with our Personal Service Department while completing her master's degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). She and her family moved to the United States in 2001, where she grew up and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 2013. After high school, she wasn't sure what she wanted to do, so she accepted a job as an Administrative Assistant. There, Dafne discovered her love of business. She knew her next step was to obtain a college degree, so she enrolled in San Antonio College (SAC) for her associates in business administration.
Her first semester she took an accounting course and enjoyed the class enough to enroll in a second course the following semester. She knew then, she was hooked. Dafne decided to pursue her bachelor's in accounting at UTSA. Before her final semester, she applied for the ADKF Tax Internship for the Fall of 2019. Dafne excelled during her internship as she could apply her coursework to real-life applications. In December, she graduated with her bachelor's degree and decided to extend her internship with ADKF, while she continued her education working towards her master's degree.
Outside of ADKF, Dafne has a very active social life. She enjoys going to church at CBC, roller skating or playing at the arcade with friends, spending the day outdoors in a park, or playing sports. Her favorite sports are soccer, ping pong, and basketball; and Dafne can get very competitive when playing. It is especially noticeable when she and her friends sit around and play Family Feud, Pictionary, or Charades. During her quiet time, Dafne can be found reading a book, most recently completing Ready Player One. Her favorite novel is Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card.
Dafne has grown in her role at the firm, from just prepping simple returns to now helping newer interns with questions and even contacting clients. She attributes the success to being able to learn from other staff at the firm, as they were approachable and patient as she learned. She is happy to be a part of the ADKF family and looks forward to the opportunity to become a full-time staff member.
