In my search for an internship opportunity, while completing my bachelor's degree, I came across Akin, Doherty, Klein and Feuge, PC, and found it to be one of my top choices. When they posted an internship opportunity on my school's job postings site, I decided to apply. ADKF allowed me the opportunity to be part of their team for the Summer and Fall of 2019 and Spring of 2020. One of the main reasons I chose ADKF was because of their firm values. Sharing their core values of integrity, accountability, knowledge, communication, and relationships allows me to feel good about my place of work. These core values allow ADKF to work for the benefit of our clients. Working at such a service-oriented firm has been eye-opening as to what type of tax accountant I want to be. Due to their client service focus, it is safe to assume that this company will keep flourishing and keep growing throughout the years. One of the greatest things I have experienced during my internship was being an integral part of the client's life and business, and helping them gain tax planning insights, strategies, and clarity.
Additionally, ADKF has been an incredible place to work because of the staff. Since the moment I started as an intern at the firm, my colleagues were always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. Being completely new to the tax world, having colleagues that were ready to teach me and share advice and best practices was beneficial for my learning experience. Throughout my entire internship at ADKF, I have never stopped learning new things and developing my tax preparation skills.
Akin, Doherty, Klein and Feuge, PC gave me many memories to cherish and the experience to push me to success in my developing career. Working at ADKF has truly been an amazing experience at this early stage in my career. Having to balance school, work, and life was a challenge, but ADKF was very flexible with my hours and I do not regret pushing myself through this phase in my education.
