BOOKKEEPER OVERVIEW:
A Bookkeeper maintains records of financial transactions by using QuickBooks, to account and post transactions. While training client personnel, and ensuring that state and federal payroll requirements are in compliance.
Bookkeeper Responsibilities:
- Represent firm to clients both on the phone and face to face
- Strong full charge booking experience to include: creating chart of accounts and financial statements; post journal entries, accounts payable and receivable; reconcile bank, credit card, accounts payable and receivable statements; printing trial balance; 3rd party payroll; other value added reporting
- Review clients’ financials and help develop QuickBooks solutions for clients
- Create journal entries to clean up client books
- Ability to work on multiple projects or client books
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records using QuickBooks
- Process payroll reporting in compliance with state and federal laws through quarterly and annual reports
- Prepare and training clients in all aspects of QuickBooks
- Ability to convert books into a QuickBooks set of books and create new companies in QuickBooks
- Train client personnel to maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
- Develops a system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
- Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Bookkeeper Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Diverse background in QuickBooks and/or CFS software
- Excellent computer skills to include creating backups, restoring, and making change files to send back to clients
- Highly organized and communicative, as others will rely on the accuracy of your information to make key decisions
- Enjoys team environment
- Ability to work offsite as needed with multiple clients
Education and Requirements :
- 5+ years experience in QuickBooks required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a full charge bookkeeping role is required
- Experience working in a public accounting firm required
- Must have high school diploma/GED equivalent, some college desired
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
- QuickBooks Pro-Advisor certificate is preferred
- Reliable transportation is a must
