I started my master's program in the fall of 2020. During that time, I attended a virtual Institute of Management Accountants Chapter meeting, and I had the pleasure of hearing Jason Nelson, a partner at ADKF, speak. After attending the meeting, and with his words in my head “if you’re not challenging yourself every day, you lose value as an employee,” I knew I wanted to challenge myself. I applied for the spring internship at ADKF. I didn’t know what to expect since we were in the middle of the pandemic.
I started in Mid-January and the internship was done remotely. Let me tell you, right from the start you get involved with the process. You first go through training that takes about a week; after your training you get to work on real tax returns! You get to see how the entire process runs and it’s amazing how involved you get to be. I can honestly say that it has been such a wonderful experience for me. My knowledge has grown since becoming an intern. The culture at ADKF is also great. Everyone is helpful and wants to see you succeed. Even though my internship has been remote, I can only imagine how awesome it will be once everyone goes back to the office.
I was nervous at the beginning since this is my first internship, but once I got to learn the process and some of the staff I got into a rhythm. I am excited to keep learning and growing with ADKF.
