Leading up to busy season we thought, in order to better the community, we must continue to better ourselves! With numerous trainings scheduled and an eager staff, we felt confident, prepared, and excited walking into the new year!
In December, our audit department attended a training course to resharpen their skills and update their knowledge on upcoming accounting pronouncements and industry guidelines. Instruction on the new lease standard, including calculation and workpaper examples, along with inventory observation procedures were among the items listed on the agenda. The goal of the course was to educate, streamline, and prepare the department for the upcoming year. By holding annual trainings, ADKF is guaranteeing that our team has the most up to date information and can provide exemplary service to both our clients and community!
Every organization needs a leader; however, at ADKF we know that a title isn’t enough. A leader values his or her team members, navigates tough situations, and practices constant and transparent communication. To ensure our leadership staff was walking the walk, we hosted a 2-day leadership training where the team broke into discussion groups, participated in learning exercises, and even performed skits to help underscore the true characteristics of a leader, both in and out of the office. Not only did the training provide useful information, but it also gave our leadership team an opportunity to bond and come out as a united front before jumping into busy season!
With another training course under their belt, and goody bags in hand, our tax department kicked off the season in style this year! With modules in client communication, tax law updates, and procedural overviews, the department was ready to get to work! However, busy season is known to be both demanding and challenging. Therefore, the training course also included material on avoiding burnout, managing stress, and the importance of appreciation and recognition in the workplace. With a renewed sense of preparedness, the tax department has been doing an admirable job this season!
Despite everyone’s busy schedules, we still found time to have fun outside of the office! ADKF was seen mingling at the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s Celebration of Giving, partied the night away at the North San Antonio Chamber 49th Annual Gala, and will be a proud sponsor of Seton Home’s Gala in the Garden and Project MEND’s Let’s Roll 5K later this month.
