ADKF recently sponsored the Christian Assistance Ministry’s (CAM) annual dinner gala held to raise funds for their cause to help individuals in crisis. This year’s theme focused on the Children of CAM, Feast to Feed. The CAM website states, “of the 50,000 people they serve annually, 14,000 are children.” This year, Louis and Nancy Scantland served as Honorary Chairs, while John & Susan Kerr and Scott & Marlise Kercheville served as committee chairs. Mr. Harvey Najim was recognized for his work on behalf of San Antonio children and specifically contributions made to support the children of CAM.
The gala was an elegant event, featuring a silent and live auction, and performances by the McArthur High School Acapella Choir. In attendance for ADKF were Tax Partners Scott Kopecky, CPA, and Howard Klein, CPA, as well as Audit Staff Paula Heredia and Maria Carrillo, Tax Manager Valerie Brauner and fiancé Gustavo Gonzales, and Marketing and Communications Specialist Angela Jacquez.
CAM was founded in 1977 by nine downtown churches and today is supported by over 80. They provide safety net needs and help to ensure further crisis can be avoided. Their services begin with a personal interview, referrals, and specific resources (food, clothing and financial help.) CAM is dedicated to helping those with great need facing long term or short-term crisis.
